The first SpirFit Wellness Retreat has come and gone. And I couldn't have asked for a more lovely group of people to experience it with! My heart is full of gratitude for each of you and the wonderful staff and partners that made this event happen.



For those who couldn't attend (and I know there were many) here's a recap of the event.


The morning started bright and early with 60+ people checking-in. It blew my mind that some participants drove three hours to be with us! (Thank goodness we had plenty of coffee on standby!!)




After a light breakfast and warm welcome, Lexi led all of us in a beautiful calming breathing exercise, which everyone enjoyed!





Then we set off to participate in some fun activities. Participants could choose from a SpirFit class, Art Lesson by Andy Eckerle, or Nature Hike.


Later that morning, Monsignor Bill Cleves gave a dynamic talk about the power of Prayerful Meditation, which he described as Contemplation. He tackled the tricky subject of getting distracted in prayer, and gave the group some helpful advice on how to keep the mind focused. He also referred to inspirational figures from the Bible and our history books (like Nelson Mandela) who are exemplary models of focus and dedication.


Then, attendees had down time to explore the grounds with old (and new friends!), or reflect privately.


The second half of the day, consisted of a delicious preservative-free lunch; presentation by the Director of St. Anne's, Deacon Dave Proffitt; and more activities including a Historical Talk & Walk by Provincial Superior, Sr. Barbara Rohe.


It was certainly a fruitful day for the Mind, Body & Soul that was most relaxing and inspiring. Everyone involved (staff and participants) created this awesome positive and friendly vibe despite many being from different Christian backgrounds. No doubt the Holy Spirit was at work!


We've received requests for another Wellness Retreat which we are taking into serious consideration. If you have any feedback, suggestions or advice, we'd love to hear from you! Thank you once again to all those attended!

Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer. School is back in session. And a sense of order has returned to our days. Forgive me for taking a break from this Blog over the summer.


I spent much of my time enjoying the long summer days with my family and friends, traveling, teaching SpirFit, and getting ready for our first Wellness Retreat for the Mind, Body and Soul.


(Which I'll recap next week!)




Reflecting on the first year of SpirFit, I feel blessed to have met so many people from different walks of life. I’ve enjoyed hearing about and learning from your personal struggles and successes. And I have greatly appreciated your words of encouragement with SpirFit. It’s remarkable how many people (including myself!) are hungry for knowledge on whole body wellness and inner peace.

With that being said, I am more convinced now than ever that Whole Body Wellness is a path worthy of pursuit.


You have reassured me this is a shared interest amongst all of you. And the need is everywhere.


This coming year I’d like to take SpirFit to the next step offering more resources and opportunities for you to get involved. As we work out these details, I hope you will continue to provide your feedback and support.





Lastly, I’d like to introduce a little prayerful mediation that I recorded. Our days can be so hectic but the need for some quiet time is REAL. Some days it can be hard to transition to the quiet. I hope this meditation can help you. Remember, clarity emerges from silence. And in the silence we can encounter God.

SpirFit is proud to announce that we’re hosting a One-Day Wellness Retreat on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 8a.m. to 3p.m. Tickets are on sale NOW!



Escape for a day to a nature lover's paradise that will nurture your mind, body and soul! Learn how your mental, physical and spiritual wellness are interconnected, and about the peace God wants you to discover.






Tailor your retreat experience to your own wants and needs. Choose two activities for the day. Options include a Guided Trail Hike through portion of the surrounding 100+ acres of woods & wetlands protected by the Campbell County Conservation District; a walking tour and history lesson of the property led by a Sister of the Congregation of Divine Providence; Art Lessons from a MFA Artist and Teacher; and Stretching Classes by SpirFit).


You’ll select your activities the morning of the Retreat during Registration. This will be your chance to make your experience as restorative or active as you'd like!


The day will also include two talks on the topics of "Living in the Present Moment" and "Prayerful Meditation".


A light breakfast and gourmet (perservative-free!) lunch will be provided.


Participants will also receive downtime to pray, visit the chapel, journal and explore the lush, picturesque grounds.


The retreat is limited to 70 participants, so don't delay on purchasing a ticket!

Attendees are encouraged to bring a water bottle, and wear comfortable athletic clothing, shoes and a watch. The retreat will take place rain or shine. No refunds will be available once payment is made.


This Retreat is open to all adults. Children ages 16 and up may attend if they’re accompanied by an adult.
